Major Attractions in the city

Gateway of India : This place is the signature mark of Mumbai, is a 26 meters high stone doorway and is the first landmark of Bombay a visitor sees when arriving by ship. Visit to Mumbai is incomplete without visiting this magnificent monument. The majority of the five star hotels of Bombay are located around the Gateway of India. The Gateway of India is definitely a must visit spot.

Mahalaxmi Temple
: This is an important Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess of wealth. Mahalaxmi Temple is one of the most famous temples of Mumbai situated on at the seashore on the northern side of Malabar hills. It is dedicated to Mahalaxmi, Lord Vishnu's consort and was built around 1785.

Prince of Wales Museum : Built in the Indo-Saracenic style, the Prince of Wales Museum is the greatest attraction of Mumbai. The museum has many important collections on art, natural history and archeology. Besides these, there are many other smaller sections devoted to other specialized subjects.

The Tomb of Haji Ali : The tomb of a Muslim saint, Haji Ali, who died while on pilgrimage to Mecca. People from all places come here, since they believe that all their wishes will be fulfilled upon a visit here. The mosque is known for its classic Islamic architecture.

Chowpatty : A popular beach where celebration of festivals such as Coconut Day and the Ganesh Chaturthi take place.On the beach are the statues of India’s freedom fighters, Lokmanya Tilak and Vithalbhai Patel who symbolize the freedom struggle. Chowpatty occupies a special place in the life of Bombay, having been the venue of very political meetings in the pre-independence era.

Aurangabad : Aurangabad, commonly used as a base for a visit to the World Heritage Sites of Ajanta and Ellora, is sheered in medieval history. City is named for Aurangzeb, the last of the great Mughal Emperors. The most renowned tourists' attraction of Aurangabad is Bibi-Ka-Maqbara, built in memory of Aurangazeb's wife, Begum Rabia Durani.

Lonavala : Lonavala is one such place where nature is present in all its grandeur. Lonavala has become famous because of nature's gift and the pollution free environment it offers to its visitors. Lonavala has been blessed with valleys, Milky Water Falls, hills, Lush Greenery and pleasant cool winds.

How to reach

By Air : Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is the major airport that receives both domestic and international flight. Almost all the airlines operate flights from Mumbai.

By Rail : Mumbai is well connected with railways, with the city being headquarter to the two railway zones - Central and Western. Victoria Terminal now renamed, as Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal is the main railway station of Mumbai.

By Road : Most of the long distance buses leave from the State Transport Terminal situated opposite Mumbai's Central Railway Station. Mumbai is well connected by a network of roads to the rest of states by a state highway.
