Climate
Kanha National Park experiences a tropical climate. In summers, temperature ranges from 40.6°C - 23.9°C and makes the summers hot and humid. However, winter season is mostly pleasant with temperature ranging from 23.9°C - 11.1°C. During monsoons, Kanha experiences an annual average rainfall of 152 cm. The park remains closed from July to mid-November during monsoon.
The ideal time to visit Kanha is between February and June.
The Park
Kanha National park holds its location in Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh and it extends over an area of 1,940 square kilometers. The key feature of this region's topography is the mascot shape valley and the whole park area is encircled by the spurs of the Mekal. In 1955, Kanha national park came into being, and since then, a series of strict conservation programmes for the protection of the park’s flora and fauna has given Kanha its justified reputation for being one of the supreme and best administered national parks in Asia. Shravantal is an old, clay bound tank in the central Kanha pasture, which happens to be an essential watering hole, for a large number of water poultry in winters.
Attractions in the Park
Flora : Dry deciduous forests and Sal forests make the vegetation of this park. However, there are some patches of Bamboo plantations and grasslands, scattered here and there.
Fauna : The density of fauna in Kanha is so sky scraping that no other wildlife reserve in India can match the alike. The most well known among the Fauna in Kanha National Park is the Tiger. Kanha is the perfect place to spot this creature, roaming freely in the wilderness of the jungles. It is said that in Kanha Tiger Reserve you can see this big cat more often than you can see in any other Tiger reserve in India.
Kanha also comprises about 22 species of mammals. Some of the inhabitants of this park are the sambar (the largest Indian deer); the gaur (the largest of the world's cattle); and the chausingha (the only four-horned antelope in the world). Other frequent inhabitants include the sloth bear, the Nilgai antelope, the dhole, Indian wild dog, and a rare panther. The park has various diverse species including "twelve horned” hiran, barasingha, an ubiquitous chital, jackal , monkeys, black-faced langur, guar (India’s tallest wild buffalo) .One can also catch view of thorny- horned Nilgai, as well as pythons, porcupines, wild boar, sloth bears, mouse deer or the glorious sambar.
Avifauna : Kanha National Park has a number of 200 varieties of birds. These include the cattle egret, hawk eagle, black ibis, and the red-wattle lapwing. Spectators should place themselves in the hills, where the mixed and bamboo forests harbor many species and in the grassy forest clearings. Water birds can be seen close to the park’s many creeks and at Sarvantal (a pool that is frequented by water birds).

Nagpur : In 1702, the place Nagpur was established by Bakht Buland Shah, the Gond Ruler of Deogad. In the year 2002, the city completed its 300 years. Nagpur is famous for its oranges so the city got its nickname as the orange city. The city is situated at a distance of 260 kilometers from Kanha National Park.
